Coasteering is an adventure sport, which as the name suggests takes place on the coast. It involves traversing the rocky shoreline, by swimming, scrambling, rock hopping, rope climbing and other means.
There are approximately 150 coasteering adventure operators in the UK. Yet in Australia there are just a handful. The sport is only just taking off downunder.
The coasteering adventures on the NSW North Coast take place on the headlands near Byron Bay (Australia’s most easterly point) and are a thrilling traverse of a stunning and rugged stretch of coastline. Most coasteering adventures involve swimming in the coastal waters, in wave exposed areas, while child friendly variations are available where the adventure stick to land and tidal rock pools.
